Committee Questions, Comments, Concerns

  • Is the bulkhead a little high in the proposal?
  • What is the material behind the awning?
  • Is it possible to use another material other than plaster so you get the feeling of having the expanse of a window similiar to the original storefront at the right end of the building.  The use of spandrel may alleviate the expense of having the different material changes. And the spandrel can add some additional security.
  • Would like to see what is behind the awning in a revised drawing, lowered brick bulkheads by 8", spandrel glass added to the storefront to give feel of the classic storefront, cost out the spandrel glass, taking the glass to the existing brick columns (can potentially save money on reducing the stucco there.)
  • How will the retail spaces be used?
  • Did you consider re-establishing the classic storefront?
  • What is happening to the angled storefront on the corner?
  • Are you planning to preserve the ghost sign on the side of the building? Yes
  • Wood is fine as a material if you are no longer using the stucco.
  • Do you have any ideas on the lighting or signage?

Carolyn Smith from Famicos Fdn is in attendance and available for comment if needed.

Motion to table with the request that a revised elevation is drawn to show the bulkhead lowered by 8", removing the stucco material, removing the awnings in the elevation drawing, and expanding the glass storefont windows with spandrel.  Passed by all members present.
